Critical Reflection This laboratory activity helped me understand the Cognitive Behavioral approach in a more practical way. I learned that people’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are closely connected, and that negative thinking patterns can influence how someone reacts to situations. Through the activity, I became more aware of how identifying and questioning these thoughts can help a person develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies. The session also showed me how important it is for a helper to guide clients in examining their own beliefs instead of immediately offering solutions. Each station focused on a specific micro-skill such as presence, attunement, deep listening, mindful breath awareness, and humanistic integration. These activities helped us understand how counselors can support clients by being present, listening deeply, and creating a safe emotional space. During the simulation, I experienced both client and counselor roles.
