HSP 103 | Module 2: Systems & Multicausality

Image
Learning Artifact  This image represents the idea of multicausality and systems thinking. It reflects how different factors and perspectives are interconnected, which was a key concept in Module 2 and was practiced through the simulation activity and the Wadhwani Interpersonal Skills course. Reflection Module 2 helped me understand that problems in human services rarely have only one cause. Through systems and multicausality, I learned that issues such as mental health struggles, family conflict, or school difficulties are influenced by multiple factors that interact with each other. This perspective made me realize that helping someone means looking beyond surface-level problems and understanding the broader context of their situation. The simulation activity made this concept more concrete for me. As we analyzed different cases, I noticed how each situation involved several contributing factors, such as personal background, family dynamics, and environmental conditions. Th...

HSP 103 | Module 1: Simulation Laboratory Activity

Image
Learning Artifact This photo was taken during our Simulation Laboratory Activity, where we worked through different scenarios related to Barangay Malupit and the Barangay Wellness Alliance. It shows our group collaborating, discussing, and making decisions in a realistic human services setting. Critical Reflection Participating in the Simulation Laboratory was one of the most eye-opening activities for me in this course. Throughout the different scenarios, I experienced how complex and demanding human services work can be. We had to respond to changing situations such as community needs, organizational challenges, and staff issues, which made the activity feel close to real-life practice. What I learned most was how much decision-making in human services depends on teamwork, communication, and ethical judgment. In every scenario, we were forced to think beyond individual problems and consider how our choices affected clients, staff, and the organization as a whole. It was challenging b...

HSP 103 | Module 1: Simulation Laboratory Activity – Facilitator Reflection (Scenario 1)

Learning Artifact This image captures my role as a facilitator during Scenario 1 of the Simulation Laboratory. I observed group dynamics, managed time, and guided reflection without directly influencing the group’s decisions.

HSP 103 | Module 1: Laboratory Simulation – Human Services Delivery System

Image
Learning Artifact This photo was taken during our first simulation activity, where we practiced different helping scenarios and explored how professionals respond to clients’ needs while being mindful of their welfare and possible red flags. Critical Reflection Our first simulation activity was one of the moments where I truly felt what it might be like to work in the helping profession. Instead of just talking about concepts, we were placed in real-life inspired situations where we had to think like professionals and consider the welfare of our clients. It made me realize that helping is not only about giving advice, but about understanding the person’s situation deeply and being careful with the decisions we make. As a facilitator, the experience felt more challenging and meaningful at the same time. I had to guide the discussion, listen to different perspectives, and make sure that everyone felt comfortable sharing their thoughts. This role made me more aware of how important it is ...

HSP 103 | Module 1: Laboratory Simulation – Leadership & Client-Centered Practice

Image
Learning Artifact This photo represents my participation in the laboratory activity, where we reflected on leadership, professionalism, and client-centered practice in the context of human services. Critical Reflection This laboratory activity helped me reflect on what it truly means to become a human services professional. The session made me realize that leadership in this field is not about being in charge, but about being responsible, respectful, and emotionally aware when working with others. It emphasized the importance of professionalism, especially when dealing with individuals who may be vulnerable or in need of support. Through this activity, I also became more aware of the value of being client-centered. I learned that helping should always focus on understanding the client’s perspective, needs, and experiences rather than making assumptions. This reflection made me more conscious of how communication, attitude, and empathy play a major role in building trust and providing m...

HSP 103 | Module 1: Understanding Human Services Delivery Systems

Learning Artifact This image shows my notes and discussion output from Module 1, focusing on how different human services sectors such as health, education, and social welfare are interconnected.

Year 2 - Term 2!

The first week of HSP 103 made me pause and realize how fast time has passed. It is already the second semester of my second year , and it feels unreal how quickly I moved from being a first-year student to someone slowly preparing for more serious responsibilities. Entering this subject felt familiar because of HSB 101, yet different in a way that made me more aware of how much I have grown since then. As the week went on, I found myself reflecting on how my perspective has changed. In my first year, everything felt overwhelming and uncertain. Now, even though I still have questions and doubts, I feel more grounded and open to learning. HSP 103 feels like a turning point—one that pushes me to think deeper and take my role as a student more seriously. This first week reminded me that growth often happens quietly, and sometimes the biggest realization is simply noticing how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time.
