HSB101 Beginnings
First Steps into Mental Health and Human Services
As I begin my journey in the Human Services program, I knew we would explore human behavior and psychology, but my introduction to HSB101 (Mental Health and Human Services) exceeded my expectations and sparked genuine excitement. The subject promises to offer deep insights into understanding people's minds and behaviors, which directly aligns with my passion for helping others.
During our first class meeting, I was immediately drawn to the comprehensive overview of topics we'll be covering. However, before we even met in person, Ma'am Jen had already organized our Google Classroom and posted several modules. I'll admit – seeing all the materials at once felt a bit overwhelming. This moment actually served as my first real "wake-up call" to college life, making me realize I was no longer in high school and needed to adjust to a new level of academic responsibility.
Despite the initial overwhelm, I find myself genuinely excited about this subject. The way it connects mental health concepts with practical hu man services applications feels like exactly what I hoped to learn when I chose this program. While I know there will be challenges ahead, I'm looking forward to developing a deeper understanding of mental health and how it influences our work in helping others.
This first glimpse into HSB101 has reinforced my belief that I'm on the right path. As we begin this journey into understanding mental health in the context of human services, I feel both challenged and inspired to grow as a future helping professional.
